Typical itinerary:
Arrive Friday evening to be welcomed by skipper and stow your
gear. A few drinks aboard acts as an ice breaker before dinner
ashore.
Saturday morning your skipper will give the required safety briefing
and you'll be heading out into the Solent. The skipper will coach you through the basics of sailing until
lunch which will be a light bite, usually at anchor. From then
on you will be sailing the yacht as a team - our skippers rarely
take the wheel.
After the day's sailing, we enter Cowes where there is time
to visit the many shops before heading further up the river to
the
Folly Inn. This award winning venue is considered to be the place
for a Saturday night. Superb food and entertainment, with dancing
on tables a must.
Sunday starts gently, with the yacht leaving about 10:00. Once
back on the Solent, we head towards Southampton and the River Hamble,
or the River Beaulieu for lunch. Then it's plain sailing towards
our home port. We plan to arrive back in harbour around 16:00.
For those who have transport to catch, they can get away at a reasonable
time. For the rest, we pop to the local pub by the marina for a
last drink before everyone heads home.
For Bank Holiday weekends, it is normal to visit Yarmouth or
Lymington on Sunday, with a cruise to the Needles as part of
the day's sailing.
